Might as well fight fire with fire.

Tell him you looked into it on this forum and some expert there were told he's right, although it is confusing because the code LT2 meant different things depending on the car and the year of assembly. That the LT2 he has was a low HP/high-torque truck engine that Chevy had to substitute at the last minute when they ran out of LT1s for a short period because the hydraulic control systems for line boring machinery on the LT1 production line had a pressure pipe fail catastrophically, spraying a semi-toxi fluid all over the factory and shutting it down for a week while they cleaned up to OSHA standards.
But his is a rare model indeed, because no more than a dozen or so LT2 made it out of the factory because Chevy decided to go ahead and use LT1s that were already boxed up as crate engines until the factory was back up to production. Even though they had extra costs unboxing the crate engines, GM wanted to deliver the advertised HP because with thye LT2 they were afraid the Camaro would be slower than the competing Mustang of that year: this use of crate engines from the GMPP warehouse carried Z28 production through until the LT1s were coming off the assembly line again.
Exlpain that the LT2 was a great engine -- for a heavy duty pickup truck. It made about 35 ft lbs more torquebelow 2500 RPM because it hadturbulence enhancing intake ports that created extra swirl at low RPM, but because of that it didn't breath quite as well at the top end and was 50 HP down from the LT1. Although in a Camaro it was three tenths second slower in the quarter, a good thing most people don't know is that with the extra torque and the heavy duty truck clutch that goes with the LT2, the car can tow an extra 500 lbs compared to the regular Camaro Z28. And with the extra low end torque they were really great for doing burnouts. Remind him how exceptional his car is at doing burnouts (regardless of whether you've ever seen him do a burnout) -- which is further proof he is right and has an LT2 truck engine in it!

Now see what he says.

wow!! Put a lot of thought into that one....Funny though. Also that his engine is Australian and he has a reverse firing order. The water in the toilets down under flushes the other way, so his engine firing order is backwards also..Kinda like in the B.O.P engines.. How many know what B.O.P means?????
