Default Battery or Something Worse

Alright, so I need some insight. I live in MN so I currently have my car in storage for the winter, but I like to go out there every once in a while and run it for a bit.

Well I have had an issue the past 2 times I've return from trips; it won't start. The first time this occurred it was pretty cold out, but I went to turn the key and all the car did was made some "clicking" sound. After a day past, my car was completely dead (no lights would work and no clicking sound) so I thought it was the battery. I connected it to a battery charger, let it sit for a few hours and then it had no problem starting up. Well the same thing happened again, but I can't get it started this time.

I currently have it connected to the charger again, but it just won't turn over. Do you think its the battery or something like the alternator? And how big effect does the cold weather have on it?

Thanks

I just had that happen to my car. I just finished rebuilding my engine and it just clicked and barely rolled over. I was worried something was wrong. But I got a new battery and all is good again. The other battery just had a dead cell that made it not have enough power. I would definitely take the battery in to get tested and probably just get another one. I live in Michigan and here batteries always start dying once it gets cold out.

Get a new battery and if you are going to store the car you want to find a battery tender. It basicly a small automatic charger that keeps your battery from failing because of sitting.

yeah i pulled my battery out of my car for that exact reason

also, if your car sits in extreme cold for any period of time without being started, batteries CAN and WILL freeze and good luck bringing them back to life after that.

i suggest getting a new battery and either getting a battery tender like gorn suggested or just pulling the battery out

What kind of battery tenders do you guys recommend? Also, what is the proper way to store it during the winter? If I pull the battery, will the LT1 be fine after sitting for 3 months without running? Thanks.
