ac problems

Default ac problems

it was a hot day so i put a 12oz can of refridgerent in. it took it quick then the compressor started going on and off. i was like **** i broke it. i get the hose and let some refrigerent out. then turn it back on and it works they way it always did. do yall have any advice on ac stuff?

Each model car has a specific amount of refrigerant that needs to be in the system. Too little will result in poor cooling, too much can cause damage to the system including the compressor. Refrigerant should be added with the aid of an AC pressure gage to get best results.

i know but i didnt have the guage. it works now so i think it was just to much.

Stay away from the quick fixes at autozone too. They can damage your system too.

well if i remember right your system only takes a total of 2 lbs to be fully charged so adding 12 oz can be very dangerous. i work for a carquest and we have people come buy the quick connect hoses and ive seen people in the parking lot freaking out a few times as the excess purges off.
