Default 95 z28 running problems

Hey Guys,
Okay heres whats going on with the car to start. The car developed a slightly rough idle about halfway through an accidental tank of 87 octane fuel. (My brother filled it up when I was in bootcamp and didn't put 93 which i always put in it). Along with the rough idle while I'm driving the car will buck or sputter occasionally mainly on acceleration. I have also seen a noticeable decrease in power.
The car is a 95 z28 6 speed with 141,000 miles (no check engine light). I haven't done any diagnosis myself yet I just wanted to see if anyone else had a problem similar to give me a direction to check.
The mods on the car are a magnaflow catback, right before I left I installed a ram clutch kit, aluminum intake elbow, and trickflow cold air intake(All within 1000 miles)
If you guys have any advice about this issue that would be great! Thanks!

even though the ses light has not shown itself u could still have some stored trouble codes. get it scanned and see. how long did it set? like murderd says how long from new plugs and wires? dont be hard on bro the fuel shouldnt have that effect.

I'm not being hard on him it was an honest mistake. The plugs and wires were done a while ago...since I bought the car Ive been meaning to do them. It seems to do it more when its warm than cold. When I go to work tomorrow I'm going to scan it and see if I get any codes out of it. When I changed my oil last I inspected the wires and they had a little white residue resembling when the wires start to arc.

let us know on the codes, mine threw an o2 code and a misfire code, the plugs and wires should be done as a basic tune up, check all the grounds around the coil and the opti and the normal wires and go from there

I scanned the car at work yesterday and got no trouble codes. I think I'm just going to change the plugs and wires this weekend and see where it goes from there.

Default similar problem

I recently picked up a 97Z28 for $500. Its been sitting for about 2 1/2 years. When I got it started it has a slight miss that seams to smooths out as the RPMs go up. It also over heats.

I changed the plugs and did a compression check. Two plugs were fouled but the compression was good on all cyls. I'm guessing my next step is plug wires.

Whats the story with the Opti problems. I'm new to LT1's. I Drag Raced with a 88 Stang about 15 years ago but this engine is all new to me.

Good Luck on your car and let me know if you find the root of the problem.

Jeff

jeff welcome to the forum. need to start your own thread. check coolant level and bleed the air out of the coolant system. change your plugs. scan for trouble codes.

I have owned 2 lt1s. One was plagued with opti issues (changed out 4 thank god for "lifetime warranty") Your car has a vented opti so it should not be nearly as fragile as the 93 and 94s. The distributor (opti or as I refer to it piece of SH**) is mounted under the water pump and behind the crank pully. So obviously when coolant leaks on it it shorts itself out (mainly on non vented) and then you get your replacement opti which sometimes malfunctions. I had a summit one on my first lt1 and the inverted torque bits backed themselves out..

Long story short--- You went from foxbody to fbody... WHY!?!?
