95 z28 electrical
first of this is an auto transmission, Totally stock Lt1. it all started on day when my alarm started going haywire and going off for no reason. i brought it to a mechanic and he "bypassed" the alarm system. after he did this I can start the car on w/ the key but i can't turn it off with the key. so i decided to look at the wiring to see what he did. it looks like he bypassed it but it looks a little goofy. he's got a yellow wire from a black box that says lockout spliced into a thick pink wire. also he has a wire spliced from that same pink wire to a thick red wire. the pink and the red wire lead up to the steering column. the only way to shut of the car is to disconnect the wire spliced between the pink and red wire. when this is diconected the car wont start and when I reconnect the wire all the power comes on as if the key is turned in the ignition.
I know its kinda confusing so ask me as many questions as possible

It would be nice if you could find out the brand name & model of the alarm, and get the company to send a set of drawings. This is the reason I refuse to buy a car that has an after market alarm.

RE: 95 z28 electrical
alright i have th ecar wired up the way it is supposed to be. i successfully took ou the alarm system. now i don't have power getting to my ignition. so when i turn the key nothing happens. I now the ignion works because it starts when it is hot wired. so could it be that since the power wire was spliced into it could not be puting the right juice to the ignition or could it have fried my ground wire?

Does the car keep running once it is hot wired? Most of these cars came with VATS, and the VATS will shut down the fuel injection if the wrong key is used. Have you checked for power at the ignition fuse (F11)? Basically battery is provided via a fusible link to the ignition switch. When the ignition switch is on, battery is applied to fuse 11 & then to the ignition system.
