well i replaced the plugs and wires, still the same problem. and also when the check engine light comes on, the car runs MUCH better, so i figure the optispark is at fault here, because when the SES light comes on, it probably is retarding the timing so it isnt missing as much, thats why it runs better. now, should i get an aftermarket optispark? one that is actually sealed, like from Accel, or MSD?

If the car runs better when the check engine lite is on, it is because the PCM goes into open loop and does not look at most sensors and is running off the MAP sensor input instead of the MAF. Pull the wires from the MAF & see if it now runs OK. If it does you have a sensor problem. I doubt very much you have a problem with the Optispark. Get the PCM scanned & see what the complaint is.

ok, so i unpluggedthe MAF today and drove to and from work like that, and guess what, no misfires. so does this mean that all i have to do is either clean or replace my MAF?

You'll probably have to replace it if it isn't giving a correct signal. Check first to make sure that all your hose clamps are tight between the MAF and the throttle body, it's possible you just have a leak or your intake elbow has a crack in it.

ok so i put the new MAF and intake elbow on, seems to have pretty much fixed the prob. BUT, i has the power it should all the way through 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but in 4th once it hits 3500-4000RPM the power just seems to cutout, not totally, it still accelerates, but not as hard as it was at 2500-3000RPM, i know at 3500-4000RPM it is still in its power band. Also in 4th gear at 4k im usually doing around 110-115mph. any suggestions?

P.S.- thanks to allyou guys that are helping me,I REALLY appreciate it. thanks guys.
