Default 3.4l wierd shaking :(

Ok, I have a question relating to a problem I am having with my 94 camaro 3.4l

The car has a bad vibration when I reach speeds of 50-60 mphs and sometimes does it at 40mph
When I say bad vibration, I mean the whole car shakes badly.
Only observation I can give that may help is this.
Car normally runs at 2000 rpms when accelerating to 40mph. When i hit 40 mph now the rpm's drop rapidly to 1,500 and the car does the weird shake thing any idea as to what is going on?

One way to help narrow it down to what it is, is to get to those speeds and then put it in neutral (with auto or manual either way). If it is still shaking it more than likely has to do with your suspension or brakes like they said. If the shaking quits when you put it in neutral, then your problem has to do with the drivetrain.

if the tranny is TCC controlled, it could be locking your trans in gear.

Thanks for the help, i'm going to do the nuetral thing and let you know how it pans out, tho I can tell you it does not shake when the car is not under power. Meaning as long as foot is not on gas no shaking occurs. And if its not shaking and i'm paying attention to the RMP meter, if it falls at all the car starts shaking and if it picks back up the shaking stops.Nj85 what do you mean by TCC controlled? Oh and to clarify for the people who posted above it is an automatic. ^_^

TCC- Torque Converter Clutch

im not sure if they had them on the camaro, buy my brother has a 91 Z24, and it did the same thing. the problem was that the TCC solenoid was bad, and was locking the trans into 3rd gear. the car would shake terribly, sort of like leaving a manual in 3rd gear and slowing down then accelerating. it would stall, and all kinds of stuff. anyway, i changed a 40 dollar solenoid in the trans and its perfect now. just a thought
