The only thing I can answer is which brands are best.

Dynatechs will be your best bet for money/performance, but the very best is Kooks or Hooker. Pacesetters should be avoided, since most people say it takes a hammer to install them.

I'm looking at these, but I don't know if they are long tube headers or not? Does full length mean LT?

Yes, full length means long tube.

But I don't know if those will work. You should look for lt1 specific headers. I'll look for a few sites later.

Go to www.speed-eng.com they have good prices and good service as well. The Dynatechs will be better quality than the Hooker, but Kooks makes the best quality headers for the LT1. I completely agree with the "stay away from Pacesetter" comment, especially for the LT1. The ground clearance thing isn't that big of an issue, especially if you get a good header. The money is in the fit and finish, as well as whether the tubes are "tuned" to get you maximum torque. With my Kooks my ground clearance decreased maybe 1" at most from the stock system because they fit really close up to the bottom of the car.

anyone else notice that apostrophes multiply each time u post one? i had a ton int he title of this post....

anyways, ive never installed headers on an LT, but these guys swear the pacesetters are garbage for the lt1. in any event, just make sure you get good quality gaskets and a good ceramic coating. paper gaskets and black paint will leave you replacing the headers in a couple years

Sorry about not getting back quickly, but I got to looking for headers for myself again. haha.

Anyway, marylandspeed.com has some pretty good prices. kooks LTs are only (ha) $869. That's the best price I've seen on them in awhile, especially because it includes shipping.

If someone happens along Kooks lt's for less, hit me up with a PM!

Check if www.speed-eng.com is running a sale on them, if they are I think the price is similar to that with free shipping (or at least when I bought mine).
