ok im going to recomend the fuel filter be changed again (at least dumped out to see whats in it) and add 5 gallons of gas. these cars gas gauges are not user friendly, my first 4th gen ran out at 1/8th tank and this one i have now runs out when it is at e. but i tell you it goes from 1/4 to e really fast.
the opti is probly a part of the issues and if i had a bad water pump leaking on a opti that is old already i would change them both. if the pump was bad to begain with then im sure the opti is not happy. its a pain in the butt, fyi a quality opti normally goes for 60 to 100k miles. you can take the cap off and have a look see at whats in there. may be a pile of rust or like new. theres a link at the top that shows how to make a tool to get the cap off. https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...41/#post614528

you can unhook the fuel line and stick a hose on it to run to a gallon jug. then hook the fuel pump prime wire http://shbox.com/1/fuel_pump_prime.jpg to the hot side of the battery to run the fuel pump. that will pump the old fuel out of the lines. from there it doesnt take much to get the fuel outa the lines on the motor. run the motor, the fuel circulates back to the tank when motor is running so what little is left will dilute in the tank.
