1995 egr problem
I own a 1995 3.4L camaro. Two weeks ago I took it to the shop becauce the engine was unstable at idle, acceleration was decresed and a puff of white smoke would fly out of the exaust at ignition, as it worsen I had to give the engine gas at idle or else it would shut off and it constantly blew whitish smoke out. The mechanic told me it was the EGR valve which was stuck open by a piece of carbon from the engine and as a result it burned some of the cables around the valve. He also told while in this situation about 3 cylinders were failing at ignition but would run fine like at 3500 RPM.
He changed the EGR valve and taped up the somewhat burned wires. Everything was going fine for one day until the next when the check engine light turned on and I felt a slight drop pick up and the oil pressure. The next day the same simptons but this time it blew a white puff of smoke continue to blow a very light grey smoke that smelt like gas. Is this due to the incorrect installation of the new EGR valve or the wires that were burned? I'm getting a feeling that one of the cylinders is malfunctioning, or light misfire. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You did not mention what the function of the burned wires was, but it would be a good idea to recheck the tape job. The installation of the EGR valve is no big deal, but eyeball it & see if anything came loose. Now that the Check Engine Light is on, get it scanned & see what the computer is complaining about. It could be one of the ignition coils might be sick. However; I am concerned about the gray smoke, which usually indicates the presence of water.
Well this is weird, yesterday I gave it hell in the highway just like my dad said. When I started it up this morning, no smoke came out and the check engine light took like 15 mins longer to go on and ever since the smoke has disapeared and the scent of the exaust is somewhat the same as it used to be. Now all I have to do is put the computer to see what is the cause for the check engine light. If anything else I'll be sure to post again Thank You.
