Default 1995 Z28 vibration/shake problem

Hello all! I just bought this car last week, and I am pulling my hair out trying to find the cause of this vibration. I just changed the u-joints today, and it didn't help any.

The problem is that when I accelerate slowly, between 1.5k and 3.5k, the whole car will shake pretty bad. If I stab it, it goes away. Also, if I throw it in neutral it goes away (A4). This happens at any speed above 20mph.

It doesn't sound like a misfire, it idles pretty good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A poly trans mount shouldn't cause vibs at low speed.

yah i didnt read it well, need to look at the rear control arm bushings. could be the worn bushings are letting the rear unit to move to much which would throw the drive shaft angle out when slowing or excellerating. good excuse to pick up some aftermarket adjustable control arms. only other thing i can think of is the pinion bearing is worn or out of adjustment and allowing to much side movement.

There are a lot of things that can cause this. Failing transmission mount would be at the top of my list but it is a pretty long list. Just for a quick check you want to make sure your transmission is tight to the motor. I have had cars come in with missing and loose transmission bolts.

Has the car been lowered? Automatic or Standard? Since you just bought the car and do not know the history it is going to make it harder. If we knew when it started or if it started slowly and took 2 years to get bad that would be a big help.

Wheels balanced? Car aligned? I would start there after the trans mount...
