yep ignition coil/control module or coil can fail after warming up. I'm sure the opti can as well although i dont recall reading about it happening. i had a icm go and it would die while going down the road then it wouldn't start for 10 or 20 minutes. starter can also lose torque after heating up causing drag but then the starter will engage it just won't turn the motor over fast enough or will engage but not do anything. I'm sure there are several other things that can cause what your seeing. flash it and see if you have anything show up. its easy and doesnt take much to do.

Check codes and check spark at the coil when it goes to a no start condition. ICM and/or coil could be getting hot and causing a no start.
Ive had the car running for about 20 minutes or more. It doesn't shut off on its own.

Most part stores can test the ICM. That will at least narrow that down. If it comes back good or bad, space it away from the head with a few washers (you may need longer bolts too) to keep the heat soak down.

Now when your talking about the icm do you mean the ignition control module or the ignition coil interface module because theres a big difference in price between the two.

Those are the wrong parts, you want the ignition control module for the 5.7 V8, the stuff you are looking at is for a 3.4 V6 with DIS
