Default 1969 chavelle 350 block in a 1994 camaro

hello guys i have a 1994 camaro with the v6 :-( .So the car has been sitting for about three years now and i'm ready to do some thing with it. I recently picked up a nice 350 from a 69 chavelle i paid 50 bucks for the block and the water pump i think its a racing one it says howard johnson on it and its aluminum. so I'm thinking about building the engine and hunting down a tranny. i want to get ride of all that computer **** and building a nice little car. I've included some picks of the engine block and the car and bye the way the car has 107000 on it and its clean real clean. so what do you say do you think we can build a sleeper.

I was thinking about building something in the range of 400-500 hp i don't want to go too aggressive. The reason for the older block simply its cheaper and I love the feel of a carborated engine. I'm currently looking for some 202 heads I hope to pick some up of criegslist and then its to the engine shop were hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for a nice engine rebuild kit i need the rotating assembly as well and I'm undetermined on what to go with. 1969 chavelle 350 block in a 1994 camaro-img_0180.jpg

First and foremost, welcome to the forums!

Next, 400-500 RWHP? Or FWHP? If you're going for the wheels, I'd suggest lowering your expectations. It'll take a lot to go that far and keep it street friendly. 400 at the flywheel is cake.

I hope you understand what you are getting yourself into with trying to switch to a carb setup. It is not straight up swap and takes a lot of planning, time, money and work. To start, you need to cut the cowl to fit the distrubitor required to run the carb'd 350. Second, you need a way to fit the carb under the hood. Your whole dash needs to be redone because all of your gauges rely on the computer to get their readings. More or less, there is a LOT of rewiring and tear down that needs to be done to accomplish such a task.

I do not wish to steer you from doing such a swap or say it can't be done, but before you do anything, I HIGHLY suggest you read and reread this thread so you know what you are getting yourself into and then decide whether you're up for the blood, money, sweat, and beers that it'll require.
