02 sensor on a 96
ok so i have a 96' with 50k miles on it and magnaflow exh. throws a running rich code and misfires, probably due to the distributor. my queestion is if i weld in 02 sensor bungs what are my chances of getting rid of the richness?

I think probably not. Why would it be due to the dizzy? It more than likely due to the o2 sensor not being plugged in. Yes, get a bung, weld it in and install the sensors. You will need to clean up the mess' in your combustion chamber and valves while you are at it.

If your headers were made for an LT1 they should have O2 bungs in them, did you not put the sensors in? From what I've seen all LT1 headers except for one set of race specific Hooker Super Comps have O2 sensors.
To find out the manufacture of your headers look at the cylinder 1 primary, it usually has the manufacture placard on it.

Ok, I just read the other thread you posted in (thanks for searching by the way, props to you)...
So you're rear O2 sensors are just hanging there. You're best bet is to get O2 sims. The rear O2 sensors don't actually have any bearing on the actual mixture of the car, that's all handled by the pre-cat O2's. The aft-cat O2's are only for monitoring cat performance (thus the reason you're throwing a code for your cats). The running rich and misfire have to be something aside from your O2 sensors (providing of course your pre-cat O2's are working properly).

I think you guys missed his OP in another thread. He doesnt have bungs anywhere after the cat...
So, matt, if you install the sensors there is a good chance the richness will go away... you see, the computer thinks there is a lean mixture, because the rear o2 sensors arent reading any o2 at all, so the computer adjusts the mixture to compensate.. causeing your engine to run rich. this iwll efinately cause problems down the line....pinging, run - on, stuck valves, random missfires, over heating, fire and even death... death by the way has been shown in labs by the state of califorinia to cause cancer...
