Default WEAK POINTS OF THE LS1?

The engine is all aluminum right? How much power will the bottom end hold. The breathing capacity appears to be very good I am just interested in the block strength. Are afermarket internals becoming more available?

Yes, It's Aluminum but is a Y Block with cross bolted 6 main bolts like Chrysler 426 Hemi. MUCH STRONG.

The rod bolts are a weak point, but thats an easy fix. Honetly I do know of one person who has had a crank problem. My feeling is that the block is good to about 550-600 hp mark.

If you are looking for a stronger LS type block, GM had recently come out with a cast iron racing block, LS style, good for 1500HP, or you could try out a truck cast iron block.
