Default Speedo recalibration

Has anyone had there speedo recalibrated at GM? I have a 01 auto LS! car. The car had 3:23 gears when i purchased. Installed the 3:42 gears out of a SS. My speedo is way off. GM tells me they cannot recalibrate. Does anybody have a factory auto car ewuipped with the 3:42 gear ratio. The code is on the drivers door. ANy help would be awesome.
Gaine 3 tenths in the 1/8th mile by a gear swap

u could try another dealer. they charge a buttload, but most of those guys have computer reflash tools, and that all you need.

another option is to buy a handheld programmer

I used diablo for my mustang, and while it could be a little goofy to use, it allowed u to change alot of options. if you arent looking for something real serious I would go this route. There may be some cheaper ones out there

there is a list of all the ones they carry, superchips is another good one. I personally wouldnt buy anything else than those 2. it may be a little more money than ur looking to spend, but u have the added bonus of being able to modify timing and fuel curves, fan on/off temps, and some other cool stuff.

but if you do get one remember not to change the tune too much, and to pay attention to how its running. more timing isnt always necessarily a good thing, and neither is more fuel

You could probably benefit from having the car dyno tuned at a reputable shop, they would be able to recalibrate your gears and probalby get you some HP, especially if you have other mods besides the gears. There's a shop that's local to me that will do a full dyno tune for around $500 as long as the car is running, so a $300 handheld seems a little expensive in that light. You could also get in contact with www.pcmforless.com and have them send you a reflashed PCM, they work on a trade-in basis, so you send them your PCM and they send you a new one. I would recommend both of those over a handheld.
