Default Port and Polish

I have an extra set of LS1 heads that came with my '99Z28 when I bought it. They are in fine working order but I'm considering having them ported an polished. I've looked a little bit into it and I just wanted the Stage 1 job done. How much of a power increase does this usually yield? I also plan on combinding it with a mild cam with something like 218 duration and .550 lift.
Also, if anybody knows how much it costs on average to have heads ported and polished i would like to know.

Thanks!

assuming your talking about gasket porting and polishing ... every little bit helps. pocket porting is where the real gains are tho. the machinist i use will pocket port and do a valve job for $180 bucks. probably varies a good bit depending on where you live. Sick

With a cam that small porting will not get you much as LS1 heads flow as good or better than many older SCB race heads. Gasket matching is all I would reccomend that you attempt. Porting is best left to a pro with a flow bench. Many times people actually hurt performance when they attempt a DIY port job.

Then buy a set of aftermarket CNC ported heads. For referance I made 393 rwhp with stock heads and a TSP .231/.237 cam

It's fine really, but you need a very good person to do the tune. I know guys who run bigger cams on a D/D but the tune is very key. If you have and auto a higher stall would be needed.
