Oil Change
How often do all you LS1 Owners change your oil? ppl were saying they change it every 3,000 miles. I can't see spending $50 on a synthetic oil change every 3,000 miles. Thats way too much money.
Does everyone use synthetic oil? And is it really worth it to put in the extra money for synthetic oil
Thanks

RE: Oil Change
Yes, The Synthetic doesn't break down when hot like regular oil. Testing shows that Mobil 1 is the best ( SWRI ) and don't crystalize after long use. With Mobil 1, 5,000 to 7,500 miles is the norm.

RE: Oil Change
A good detergent oil is supposed to get black, that is due to all the dirt it is picking up from inside the engine. That is why it should be changed even though the oil itself is still good. If the oil stays clean, it means that it is not picking up dirt as it should, and allows the engine to get gunked up. You can buy a 6 quart boxof Mobil1 from Costco for less than $30.

RE: Oil Change
I just got my oil changed with the mobile 1 synthetic oil. I got the full service and it cost 50 bucks. Next time I prolly won't get the full service. But anyways, how often should I get my oil changed using mobile 1? Cause I heard 5-7000 miles and now I'm hearing every 3,000

RE: Oil Change
If you take longer trips(i.e. mostly highway) you'll be fine on the 5-7K, if you make mostly short trips(i.e. driving around town, stop lights etc.) you should continue changing every 3K. Oil life isn't just detemined by miles, oil temp and oil pressure contribute as well.
