^ Yes, LS3 is an aluminum block. Dual springs good to .600", supposedly engine dyno'd at 576 HP at crank. I will post the TMS dyno sheet when I receive it.

As delivered today...

Sounds like next trans rebuild I will seriously consider that drum. Anything else really worthwhile on the 60E? Already have the 5 pinion planets. Sounds like you work at a trans rebuild shop huh?

My trans is currently fine and was just rebuilt prior to my Road America engine blowout, so I will leave well enough alone for now.

He is an abusive idiot, This is in a Heavy crew cab pick-up, Don't know HP/TQ but....It runs HARD with that Magnuson TVS Blower And that is his story about it burning up that many times, He may have just been bashing the trans shop that he used before me?

I currently work at a Performance shop & specialize in TH350's, TH400's, 200-4R's, 700R4's, 4L60E's, & 4L80E's. And recently got into 4T60E/4T65E FWD behind boosted 3.8L & LS4 5.3L.
I worked for years in Transmission shops & got tired of the corner cutting BS just to get the unit out of warranty. Shop owner concerned about money, Customer concerned about money...& me stuck in the middle.

If your current trans does go down, Please consider a 4L80E....And don't play "what will break next" on your Dime....After you buy a $700 Drum.

I cant give much advice on your trans because I don't know what has been done past 5-pinion planets & a Sonnax Overrun Valve?

2013 Was the first rebuild. I had two straight 4L60E swaps prior to that covered under extended warranty at Chevy service centers. Ext. warranty dropped me for the 2013 one when they discovered my LTs and diverter, etc.

2014 I lost a couple gears -- forget which now -- will have to go back and dig up specifics.

Well 2015 was due to a slipping on 2-3 shift, which my trans guy thinks might be due to the trans shifting too early under part throttle. Speed Inc. then made a tune change to the shift points after rebuild.

OK, The parts list looks OK, Didn't see what SunShell they used?

So, You have had it rebuilt 5 times.....Hopefully it's good now & you will not have to worry.

A little bit about 4L60E Planetaries, (Not trying to step on toes here!)

4-pinion Planets are plenty strong enough! They will handle what the rest of the trans will & more. 99% of Planet failures are a result of Poor Lubrication that has been an issue since 1982 when the 700R4 came out. GM has tried several stop-gap measures to correct this but none have been successful.

The 5-pinion is stronger, Their main focus with this update was for 1/2 ton Trucks with 6.0L's. Even though all LS2 cars got 5-pinion planets too.

All 6-Pinion Input(Front) Planets are for running Different 1st & 2nd gear ratios, 2.84 1st & 1.55 2nd V.S. 3.06 1st & 1.63 2nd. To make this possible the Input Sun Gear diameter had to be Increased, Therefore the Pinion gears had to be made smaller.....To add strength back in the planet...6 Pinion gears are used.

Sonnax also makes a similar Planet to PATC's, But can be rebuilt with hand tools at home, 2.84 Ratio Input Carrier Kit - 77284-K - Sonnax
