Default ls1 rebulid or replacement?

I have my 1998z with 141k on it and it has a bad metal ticking noise when its idleing and gets to be a steady metal growl at around 60mph. The point is the motor is looking blown and I am debating rebuliding or replaceing the engine. Since ls1s seem hard to come by are there any suggestions as far as maybe switching to an ls6 or something that all the hardwear would line up with I'm not looking to move motor mounts and such I just want something I can drop in without any serious hasstle. Also If I do go with a rebulild any suggestions on upgrades while the engine is pulled (a high performance oil pump is already at the top of my list).

What's your budget? Start looking around the classified sections on some of the forums...you can find stroker forged bottom end short blocks for $3500
