Ls lifter and retainer question
I'm unfamiliar with the chevy LS series engines and have a question pertaining to the last episode of "Spike TV Horsepower" show. While doing a cam swap, Mike was able make the lifters stick into some sort of retainer housing. He did this simply by rotating the front of the camshaft by hand. This makes it easy to do a cam swap. What I don't understand is how the lifters can be walked into the retainer but not get stuck when the engine is running? Thanks
