looking to become a 4th gen owner....
hiya guys,
I currently own a 85 IROC and I am looking to add to my collection. I am looking at an 01 camaro Z28 5.7 with 50k miles. It has a 6spd and the owner claims it is in very good condition. I am going to look at it friday evening. What trouble spots should I look for on these cars? I was planning on researching the topic quite a bit but this car popped up in my local area and I think it is a good deal....the owner is asking 7600 with the car in good to excellent condition. What do you guys think?

I think that is a killer deal! When I got my 98 Z28, it had almost a hundred thousand miles on it, and still cost me $7,000!
I posted a thread about a problem that I and another guy with a 6-speed had, look under "This could be your car's problem". Only happened once to me, but his keeps repeating.
Another thing I noticed among these 4th gens is a minor flaw. The lights for the head unit of the stereo go out. My numbers 1, 4, 3, and 6 are all out. Another friend has the lights for the numbers 2 and 5 out.
A very common thing I see on these are bent front quarter panels from being put on lifts. There is a tab that sticks out on the bottom of each side in which two mounting bolts go through, and I see these bent or broken all the time.
If it has the Monsoon package, check to make sure that both the speakers in the back seat work (not the trunk speakers). In both of the Camaros I owned, those speakers were blown, because the original design couldn't handle the power of the Monsoon package. They later revised these speakers, gave them a different part number, and they performed much better. Since I have replaced my old blown ones with the revised ones, it sounds great, and they last!
That's all I can think of for now, but if I think of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know!

$7,500 for that 01 Z28 with only 50k miles sounds like a good deal to me!

No way?!?!? And I thought I got a good deal! Haha! An SS Camaro like the one I got was selling from $13,000 to $14,000 at the time! I can't believe you got one with that low of miles for basically the same price! Lucky!
