My son was driving our 01 Z-28 the other day, and though he won't admit it, he was power shifting between 2nd and 3rd. I believe the Skip Shift engaged and he tried to force it in gear. Now it won't go in gear and just has a grinding sound. I looked under the car and did not see the Skip Shift solenoid. Where is the Skip Shift mounted and has any one gone through this? what were your results.

I have a 2000 SS and it came with a Skip Shift eliminator. Its a small wire harness about 6 inches long that goes on the transmission. I've never attempted to install it, but I was told it is on the tranny and an easy install.

 

Skip shift solenoid is mounted to the top of the trans closer to the rear than the front. In front of the shifter. Skip shift only initiates in first gear under light throttle.
