ford focus tumbler locked. steering wheel locked.
My buddy at work has a newer ford focus like a 2000.
At lunch yesterday he turned on the accessories to put up the windows.
Well today i found out his key wont turn and the steering wheel is locked. He can still tilt it up and down. What could be wrong? Whats the fix?
We tried pushing the steering wheel around and wiggling the key but no luck.
I put it in N and let it cost a few inches by putting the key in the automatic shifter. Still everythings locked up.

well i finally got the cylinder out and the new one in. but when i got to turn it on everything goes on but the car wont start. The light is flashing above the hazard lights. Doesnt that mean its the VATS not letting it start. I put the old key by the cylinder where the vats ring is and not luck. any help?
Ford calls it PAT, VATS is GM.
I believe there should be a security chip in the head of the key.
If so, there would be a receiver box behind the ignition key area. The key needs to be near it for the ignition to work, which it is when it's in the ignition. But you can't have two different keys (2 diff signals) near the same box. You could remove the chip from the old key and attach it to the security box. Then you would need to have a regular, non-microchip key cut so that you have no signal conflict. Only drawback is that the security system would now be bypassed.
