my guess would be that the guy in the 5.0 was using a wet shot too soon in the RPM range, this would cuase fuel puddling in the intake manifld and would give you a nice nitrous backfire. this would be using it incorrectly. my nitrous setup has a window switch that only alows nitrous to spray beyond 3,000 RPM so no puddling will occur.

your friends nitrous system worked just as it should have and he died becuase he was using it wrong.

while you anology does make sense, if you just make sure the yanking force isn't enough to ever break the rope/chain you will not have any problems.

Nick, you never said that oxygen isn't flamable, but you did state that N2O wasn't flamable, yet it splits into oxygen and nitrogen at about 600 degrees, so I will contest that if you had a high enough concentration of N2O above 600 degrese that it would be flamable due to the hightened O2 content in whatever environment you put it in. So by itself in the bottle, no, of course it isn't flamable. Same thing goes for Gasoline though, if it's in liquid form, it won't burn, but once the vapors get spread throughout the air, it becomes combustable. If you could keep gasoline completely liquid, it would not burn. If N2O were not flamabe at all, it wouldn't help you except for cooling down the air in the intake and increasing volumetric efficiency by increasing the density of the air entering your cylinder, and thus increasing the amount of O2 entering your cylinder. Because N2O has oxygen in it, and because it does break into nitrogen and oxygen at 600 degrees, under engine conditions, it increases the amount of O2 into the cylinder, this way you can add more fuel to the mixture as well as burn that fuel faster.

I just got a '02 SS SLP. I love this thing!!I want to get it up around 400hp (in the ball park of SVT cobra beater!! ) eventually and was wondering what is that best route to go there. Its gonna be strictly my pleasure car.

Also... any tips on keeping my SS tip top?

clay bar, certain spark plugs, synthetic, best injector cleaner, etc??

i know italot of open ended stuff here, but i just got the car and im really amped up about it!!

About keeping it clean, i will give you my car if you dont approve of this stuff, use ICE liquid clay bar, then the ICE paste Wax, and then the Detail spray, trust me on this bro follow the directions and you will be really happy, tell me how it goes and good luck!!
