Which hood and intake?
What's the best choice of intake for an LS1? I 've been thinking of getting a k&n. I'm also getting a new hood due to an accident. Would the SS hood be my best choice for performance, even ifminimal,or a differently designed one?
for hood dont think performance, think looks alone. even if a hood can net u 2rwhp, the gain isnt worth having someting u arent happy with because that extra will not win u races or put a grin on ur face when u mash the pedal. If u like the SS hood go with that. They make some cool hoods for camaro's though. i like the one that was on the ls1tech pinks car, whatever that was. for intake, it usually comes down to what u want to spend. some people like buying the "best" while others like the feeling of having the same performance for half the price. just get a lid. its all you need. dont mess with smooth bellows, lemme tell u. they are a pain in the *** and dont do anything. I actually gave my smooth bellows away for free to a guy with an SS and took his stock bellows. but I needed the stock for my NOS plate
. win win.
. win win.
Very true. I'm very indecisiveand idk what hood to get.Do you know if any of the heat extractor hoods actually work? I live in a hot area of AZ and anything to stay cooler helps. And for the intake, I want whatever is going to give me the best gain. Is the lid just as much of an increase as an intake kit?
Yea, that one, just in red! I've never seen anyone here with that hood, plus I like it! It's kinda intimidating! I know it's ultimately about whether I like it or not, but what do you guys think?
I would not personally put it on my car (even though in that pic it is on my car, I was just doing the fitting work). My car is a SS so I will stick with that hood. If I were to buy a hood it would be a light weight cowl hood.
