Default Intake? will it fit under my cowl hood?

Hey guys, I have a stock flat intake that is killing the engines performance and I saw a Elderbrock RPM air Gap intake that is local for a good price!

I have a 69 Camaro with a Cowl hood, will there be any height issues???

The air gap is only about 1/4" taller than the non air gap #2101 model. Height at the carb pad is a hair over 4.25". With a cowl hood, you shouldn't have a fitment problem.
I'm sure you'll still need to stick with a drop base air cleaner, which I suppose you already have now. A good deal air gap? Grab it.

If you have the stock Camaro intake, it was an extremely low profile, even lower than std. Chevy big block intakes for other models. I had one of those on my '71 when I bought it and changed to a Edelbrock Torker intake and it wouldn't clear a 2" cowl hood. I've got a 3.75" cowl hood and have about 1/4" clearance on top now.
From what I've seen hood clearance on a 1st gen isn't any better than the 2nd gen Camaros, and I think oyu're best to get a measurement from base plate to valley on the stock intake, then check the same measurement on the air gap to be sure before you install it.

You can't compare big and small block clearances. I had a regular performer manifold on a previous 69 with a small block.
Had a cowl hood and it cleared with no problem. Air-gap is only another 1/4".

His car is a big block? I thought we were comparing big blocks to big blocks?

Oh that's right, pay no attention to the 427 emblem on the hood. Brain fart...I didn't say anything!
One other factor that could affect his fitment is how "accurate" was his clone built?
1969 B.B.'s used a different (taller) engine frame bracket on the drivers side to shift the engine over.

Anybody know of a good replacement intake that will not require any modifications? I have a pace car with a 350.
