I have a 2002 NHRA edition formula. I have a set of stripes on the car that I'm looking to remove they are stickers that the previous owner had put on the vehicle before I purchased it. I bought the car 8 years ago and I'm ready to remove the stickers. is a heat gun the best way to go as a hair dryer the best way to go not sure what to think. I would think by leaving it in the Sun that would be the first thing to do to get the stickers soft

 

Heat guns are usually 600°F - 800°F and hair dryers around 150°F - 200°F.
I would start with hair dryer first.
All you are trying to do is soften the adhesive.

 

Was thinking to just try w a hair dryer in the sun? The car never sees the sun during storage. Paint is still as new. Do you think the color will be the same? Maybe a little buffing will be necessary to bring it back to new?

 

I've had good success with a hair dryer. The hair dryer won't hurt the paint, but if you go "oops" with the heat gun, you ruined the paint. Being a red car, a high sun fade color, you might notice a difference where the stripes are unless you've been driving the car with a big umbrella shielding it.

 

I ended up using a heat gun, as a hair dryer is not powerful enough. stickers came off perfect and because the car only has 40,000 miles and never gets in the Sun for long, the paint was perfect a minimal buff was all I needed to make it look showroom new again. it pays to keep your car in a garage because my paint looks is it did the day I bought the car new.

 

Glad it worked for you. I used a hair dyer because I don't have a heat gun before, and the hair dyer helped soften a bit the stickers.

 

I kept it low and far from the paint and it worked ok. I just make do with what I had. the stickers were on pretty good.
