Default Hatch Struts Squeaking & Driving Me Nuts

Hi Everyone.

The rear hatch support struts on my 2000 Camaro squeak occasionally when I drive the car & it drives me nuts. Have any of you had this irritating problem??? If so, did replacing them stop the squeaking?? Did you buy GM/OEM replacements??

ha ha, actually i have a squeak and although it only occurs rarly , that whait it is! Its hard to tell where all the noises come from when all you can here is an exhaust. Let me know how you get on cause i might just oil the joints and stuff when im back home, see if that solves it

Okay so I picked up a set of OEM struts from the dealer (my old friend works there so I always get a better price than "dealer retail")

Problem solved.. The old ones seemed like they had shot seals as they didn't have much hold to them.

Strange, mine are fine seal wise, may leak a bit but still pretty strong. Ill look into it sometime but its not that important

I have this problem on my '02 RS 3.8L, ANNOYING!!!

Aren't the Hatch Stops and Guides & struts able to be lubricated? What is supposed to be used, and at what spot(s)? White Lithium Grease? Anyone have pics of the exact spots to lube?

TIA!

I'm not sure, I was too impatient to try to fix & just swapped them out. I think some WLG would work just fine at the base of the rod near the housing.

Try it & report your findings.

Used or new? If used, how many years were they on a car?
