Has anyone swaped a new ls1

people have replace v6 with ls1, most just opt to buy an ls1 cause the want the power and the swap is quite heavy.
You need to replace:
all brakes and suspension
need a V8 and separate PCM to control this and still have the V6 pcm for the car
youll need the v8 subfrae too
It is possible but hard work. I've not heard about this smart cylinder thing on the ls1's, i know bmw do it but not gm, do you know where i can read about this too?

its just what i had heard, you DONT have to put then in BUT I wouldn't trust the smaller brakes and lower unmatched spring rates when hurling around in a car with circa 3x more power and a heavier engine.
I know your doing a build some im not discrediting that but i notice you are NOT putting an LS1 in, if you were an LS1 K member would be the easiest as it would bolt straight in with the correct engine alignment

I have a 95 3.4 v6 camaro convertable (the little baby of the family) And i plan on doin alot of work to it. I have beeen seriously thinking of swapping in the new LS1 intelligent motor that shifts down to 4 cylinders when your not on it. I think of all the investments that would be the best if possible hell the amount of gas id save in just one year would make it worth it. Just wandering if anyone has done that yet with the new LS1s. and roughly how difficult it was obviously there will have to be some modifying but im no rook. be easy guys this is my first post
Second the V6 to V8 conversion has been covered probaly 200 times since i have been on this forum alone. Do a freaking search and some research on your own please.
Finaly when you do this you will find that the swap is very expensive since you will need a V8 donor car and a good LS1 drive line. By the time you have all this at your garage you could have picked up a LT1 car or put well over half down on a LS1 car. Hell maybe even picked up a higher milage LS1 car needed a little work. As said above your going to need the wiring harness, ECU, engine, transmission, and misc front end parts. I would also recomend a 10 bolt with LSD or all that power is going no wear.
So there you have

Your right you dont have too. But i would strongly recomend it since you do need to turn and stop on the street. The LS1 is a little longer then the and with the extra power you still want to stop. Keep in mind you should change out the rear any way. I think the radiator is a little diffrent too if i am not mistaken.

Personally, I would punch out the camaro all I could and buy a cheap commuter car to drive for work. Lol, but that's just me.

well how about the wiring would i have to replace all the wiring in this or do they make a kit to conver my old wiring to new computer. i know it would be easier to just buy a ss but i dont have 20k and i dont mind the hard work
