Default Dyno numbers :(

just dyno'd my car yesterday on a dynojet for the first time and needless to say i was quite disappointed. first run(276hp/280tq) 2nd(293/293) 3rd.took out my air filter, left lid open(302,302) my mods are as follows (borla catback no muffler, slp y pipe, mti lid) i have properly maintained the car, chained oil every 3k miles, seafoamed car when i got it 3 months ago, changed plugs after seafoam, checked fluids, have used engine decarb several times. never abused it. i'm the second owner and it has been sitting in a garage for 4yrs. 107k miles.

during my first run there was a lot of black smoke in the higher rpm band, and alot of fuel being dumped from exhaust, each run after it got better.

I really feel like this was a complete fail run, is this normal? or is something wrong?
my friend wit a 01 cobra came wit me and we have done the same exact mods on our cars(X pipe instead of Y) and mileage is about the same he pulled (293/293)

You used a chassis dyno which displays power at the tires. Due to losses in the power train, power at the tires is usually 15% to 25% less than at the crankshaft. Also, the Dynojet machine is less optimistic than the Mustang machine, and is going to give somewhat lower results.

I agree..they seem a bit lower but as mentioned before, you are getting Rear Wheel horse ratings and that dyno is a bit conservative but even if the numbers are off , it wont be by much. your car is an A4 and even that eats up a bit more HP. Im taking a shot in the dark but has the car been professionally tuned after the mods?? That may help squeeze out some more.. but honestly with those mods and a tune you should be a bit more.

Most LS1's even A4's regardless of year do around 290 or so stock and up to around 310 if its an 01 or 02 and manual. and without a tune your mods may give you around 15rwhp or so. Again all those numbers are general, but it does seem you are a bit on the low end. try to find a mustang dyno and if you havent already...get a tune ...then try again!

Good luck

i'm gonna get a tune and see if that helps much, and yes i agree it def. does seem low, i've just sorta ran out of ideas as to what it could be, i think i'm gonna try some fuel additives to help raise compression cuz i think that's where i may be lacking, suggestions?

Fuel additives will not change compression.

Wait, are you suggesting that Dynojets gives a lower hp reading compared to Mustang dynos. I've always seen lower readings on Mustang dynos compared to dynojets.

Where did you take your car to get it on a dyno? I want to get mine on a dyno before I do any mods to it so i can see how much of a difference I get.
