Dealer blowing smoke?
I have been looking for a 4th gen SS for a while and stumbled on a 2002 SS convertible with the SLP package. (Center mount exhaust and air box) It is used with a couple of blemishes on the body, no big deal. What worried me was the right quarter panel seemed like it was not lined up correctly with the rest of the body compared to the left quarter panel. There is a larger space between the panel and the door.
The dealer told me it was because of the slp parts used, and that it was normal...but that didnt sit right with me. Anyone else heard of this??

I would run a Carfax on it, or just walk away. Why the hell would a company intentionally make one gap appear uneven, and the other perfect? I know the front fenders can appear out of alignment (if jacked up improperly).

"Yeah, they're all like that, now hand over your money" says the salesman.
Is the gap the same vertically, just wider overall? Or is it wider at the bottom compared to the top, which could mean a worn door pin/bushing? And how do the front door gaps compare?

i like 69's idea there that possibly a door pin...
my car is a 97 SS and all the gaps are even...dealers NEVER lie(sense the sarcasm). could be something also where someone put a jack somewhere they weren't supposed to and bent a body mount...did that to mine...bent it back and its perfect now. just some things to look at
