Cold air intake or bigger lid?

RE: Cold air intake or bigger lid?
i went for the bigger lid myself, something like the slp one, but you can mod the air tray underside by cutting it out and removing the plastic over the radiator too, this will draw cold air in from under the car just take it steady in wet as you dont wanna suck up water spray

the cold air intake benefits a bit more at higher speeds if you have an SS hood. Like my Volant CAI. But if you don't have the hood a regular aftermarket lid will do although some are known to have fitting issues and the CAI wont have such a thing happen. My Carbon lid never fit right. I love my volant...it looks different and works great

So what brand would you suggest of air lid? I just checked out the Volant intake system, you think its worth it?

Is there a better lid than the SLP? I just thought since they worked with the F-body cars so long that they would be good.

RE: Cold air intake or bigger lid?
GM High Tech Magazine did a side by side comparison test with about 8 different lids. While the differences between the 8 were minor, the SLP did perform the best as far as air flow was concerned. SLP has re-engineered their lid and it is supposed to flow even better.
I went with an SLP CAI set up (including lid, smooth bellows and trimming the plastic under the K&N) and am very pleased with the results.
I am thinking of making my own version of the SSRA (Super Sucker Ram Air). Google that and you'll see what I mean.
