Best way to gain HP?
I am getting a 99' Z28 and I was wondering what would be the best way to get the most HP. I would like to get a bunch of low priced stuff over time that would work well together. (Im planning of installing all my parts myself.) I was thinking about getting these for a start...
*High-Flow Air-Box Lid
*Cold-Air Induction Package
*High-Flow K&N Air Filter
*F-Body Smooth Bellows
*Modular Loud Mouthâ„¢ Exhaust System w/2.5" Dual/Dual Tips
Thats would cost me somewhere around $700 im guessing.
I figure that would give me a good start. Any opinions on if thats good or something else I could do would be great.
And anything on what would be good to do after all that would be much apriciated also.
Thanks!

RE: Best way to gain HP?
Those are the typical bolt ons, but I would not say that they add a lot of HP. The Lid will get you about 6-8 rwhp, the bellows almost nothing, the K&N maybe a hp or two, and the cat back maybe a couple of hp. The real gains on an LS1 are in the headers and cam. If you do all the bolt ons you can get it up to about 340 rwhp. *edit* I see that it's a 99, you need to get an LS6 intake they are good for about 15 rwhp.

I know I said im doing all my installing, but Im not sure I trust my self with the cam install. I really like cams, and want one, but I dont know if i can do the install, and to pay for that it would cost alot.

If you want any real increase in HP you should do mods in combination that compliment each other, the best thing to do is a cam and heads mod. There is a lot of HP to be made in a good cam. Heres a link with some LS6/LS1 and ASA specs.

Of coarse good labor is gonna wind up costing you more than the actual parts but I wouldn't recommend doing something like this in your back yard if you know what I mean. If you upgrade your cam you need to also upgrade your pushrods and valve springs but they are relativly cheap.
