y pipe question

I am looking at the texas speed 3" caty pipe to go with my exhaust system i am putting in and it says"Not CARB-Certified!" so anyone know what that means?.. here is the link to the page http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/cate...1&catid=45

CARB means C-alifornia A-ir R-esoures B-oard. So,if a Part is listed as "NOT" it means it is not emission legal and ment for off road use. The CARB standard is used Industry wide as aguideline for emission legal parts.

so if i lived in a state where they dont do an emissions test it will be ok then for street use?

I don't think its a state thing, at least in Oregon. It has to do with location. I'm in a rural area, and I'm not required to go through DEQ. However, the town next to me requires it. If I moved east 10 miles, then I would need to pass emissions. I think when it talks about this, it might delete the cat.

it comes with 2 high flow magnaflow cats.. so what do you mean by it might delete the cat

Oh, I was looking at the wrong one, sorry.

I think what they're saying is that they won't guarentee it pass emmissions. Kind of like when you buy a headlight for your car that is for "offroad use only"

It will pass emissions, it's just not certified to pass in California. To get a CARB rating it has to go through a bunch of testing etc. Not to mention it can't be legal in California since they don't allow Long Tubes anyway...

ok thanks a lot for the info.. but thats crazy why cant you have LT's in Cali tho? what would be the difference between those or shortysand mids?
