question on x-pipe

Default question on x-pipe

i have a 99 SS. i am getting pacesetter long tube headers with the y pipe 2 connect. if i want 2 bypass the cats and go straight to the exhaust is that all i need? ordoi need 2 buy a x-pipe? cuz ive heard that i dont and that i do... thanks

You don't need an x-pipe to bypass the cats. You need an offroad y-pipe, or just replace the cats with straight pipe.

Just for your future info, an X pipe is something that you use with a full dual exhaust system (the X pipe is actually the crossover in a true dual system, but that's just technicalities). As Stan said, all you need is an Off Road Y-pipe, most people don't go with a true dual system on the F-bodies because it's pretty hard to fit under the car if you want the pipes to go out the back in the stock location. Just look for anything labelled "Off Road" and it's not going to have emissions equipment.
