What's Up with Upswept Headers?
What's the deal with upswept headers? Do they have a different tone than regular headers or is it more a clearance/space issue?
Just wondering. They are made by Hooker for Lt-1's #

RE: What's Up with Upswept Headers?
Usually, it's because it's the only way to get a larger tube header in a tight space, to get a longer primary tube length ( more torque ),
or because some chassis designs will only allow for this type of installation. Generally, it is to increase primary tube length and to try to get a straighter shot off of the cylinder head and create less bends ( restriction ).

kinda along the lines that Uncle Bill said, but it looks to me like they are trying to extend the lenght of the tubes to be as long as possible, but still have the header be able tie into the stock Y pipe/cat assembly. As bill said, it gets you more torque, but in this case, you don't have to replace the Y piped(which ironically is much more restrictive than the stock manifolds).
