Not sure why true duals would be illegal... The same amount of exhaust is going to come out anyways. How is thatterribleon emissions andsmog? As long as you use cats in each pipe, I see no problem. Mustangs come with true duals and h-pipe.You are out of your mind if you think you are gonna have to spend 2 grand on true duals.

That's exactly what I was thinking stan.
True duals probably are not liked for their labor, I doubt they are illegal for cars our age.
I'm going to my muffler shop this weekend to get my exhaust looked at, I'll straighten this out.

Sounds good man.
be sure to let me know.
I already talked to a mufflershop downtown and they said they would do it for like 50 bucks labor, as long as i had the parts.
^^
so if they'll do it, it shouldn't be illegal, right?

not true

maybe it's not as bad on emissions and smog as some think, but you can't add cats to the car. It is illegal to have more cats on the car then the car originally came with. So a car with 1 cat would not be allowed to have 2 cats on it

Why the hell would it be illegal to have an extra pollution control device on your car? I know you aren't supposed to replace a cat that it is in working condition. All the law says is that it has to be the same type that came on the car.

Technically by federal law you're not allowed to alter the emissions equipment at all, this included number as well as location. Putting a true dual exhaust on your car would alter the location as well as the number of cats and aft-cat O2 sensors if the car is OBDII. Although it's technically illegal, so it's a liability for a company to do exhaust work that alters emissions equipment most inspections centers don't care how the cats are configured as long as they're there. I had to change my cats with my Long Tubes and I have no problems passing the visual as well as smog tests.

No, the law says you are not allowed to modify the number of cats on the car or where they are located, at least in Illinois.

I'm not exactley sure why, but if you want to look it up or ask around, i'm sure you can find out.

Not sure where else to look for all this stuff, but this is all I could find.

I probably amwrong.Just did not understand whyyou are saying true duals isworsefor emissions than a single exhaust, and the fact that someone else saidit will cost around two grand to do.
