I agree with you, the heat shield on top of the cat. Buy a couple of long ss band clamps and put them around the cat to hold the loose heat shield or just remove it. Your choice.

well i thought about that too but the only problem is that the sound is coming from the front of my car and not the back end....im thinking that i'm just going to take off the heat sheild from the cat and see if that fixes it...good idea or bad idea?

Bad idea, if the cat should overheat without a shield,it can cause a fire.

haha i think i actually know this one, my car did the same thing, theres this pan lookin thing thats almost in the middle of the car, it goes across underneath the drive shaft and exhaust pipes, ur pipe is problyrattlingon it, simple fix= lift up ur pipe with a jack, (car first to get under there) then stick a big ball of alluminum foil between the pipe and that plate thing, lower the pipe to pinch the alluminum foil there, and walla!! no more rattling! haha cheap, redneck and WORKS!!! mine did it to

also remember that sound can travel through a car pretty easily. I had a sound that I thought was coming from the top of my engine while in the car and when i was out with my head in the engine bay I found it was in a completely different location than I originally thought.
