Default off road Y or reg Y pipe?

so i was told on here that the only differnce in a Y pipe and an off road Y pipe is the off road has no cats.. which means prolly isnt street legal right? but my real question is is there a difference in performance as far as hp and torque it would allowand do they differ in sound?

They'll differ in sound a little bit, but probably not too much and not in a bad way. "off road" would imply that it is not street legal, because it has no cats. Depending on the emissions regulations in your area it could be ok (although even if you don't have to get tested I believe you're still supposed to have the emissions equipment that the car origionally came with). As far as performance, you may see a slight bump in HP, but with a couple of good high flow cats you're not really losing anything (2-5 HP I would say depending on the quality of the cat).
