Muffler build
Im willing to bet this is something new to the forum.... one day with nothing to do i decided to design and build a muffler for the '94 formula basically just to see if i could do it. so i drew up a couple blueprints and went down to the shop and whipped out some sheet metal and a 6 inch grinder with a cut off wheel and cut all the peices i needed andweldedthem together into a very unrestrictive pattern then i went to town and bought a 3 inch pipe adapter and 2 2.5" adapters and put them in it like the stock crossflow mufflers have, then i ground down all the welds and polished it up a bit with a wire wheel and painted it with aluminum color 1500 degree ceramic paint after 10 hrs of work. Then i removed the stock exhaust and put on my muffler. i started up the car and much to my suprise it sounded awesome! it looks a bit crude but it really has a nice tone. ill try to get some pics and maybe a sound clip of it on here. Im going to put 4" stainless steel straight cut tips from magnaflow on it.
heres a sketch of the inside. I learned alot about exhaust during this project. When i put on the 90 bends(not mandrel) it really quieted it down and got rid of backfires (it was too quiet.), then later when i put on the 4 inch tips itmade it almost as loud as it was without tailpipes.
If anyone tries making a muffler post on here how it goes.
