Default Headers/Mid-Pipe

Hey guys, got a few questions about headers and mid-pipes.
What are the differences/perks of long tube headers over shorties?
What brand would you guys recommend? Pacesetter or Abbott Racing?
Could I take a mid-tube from a z28 and use it on my 98 3800?

Thanks in advance!

Longtubes make better power, and much better low end torque because they 'scavenge' air. That essentially means the hot exhaust cools inside of them, compresses, and sucks air into the cylinders. - At least that's what I was told when I was looking for header info.

For the lt1/ls1, pacesetters are cheap, but the majority of the ratings I've seen on this site say they are pretty crappy. I haven't seen anything about Abbot Racing. I don't know how it crosses over to the 3800.

I have no idea about your last question. lol.

Oh, and nice car btw.

The only longtubes I know of for the 3.8 are made by Force Fed Fabrications, and they are quite expensive, as I don't think they mass produce them. Does Abbott Racing offer longtubes?

To toss in another answer, no you cannot use a Z28 header for your 3800. Different motors=different exhaust ports=different headers.

Ahh darn, thanks for the replies guys.
Just trying to see if I can cut down the cost by scavenging for more parts rather than buying them, lol.
