Default glass packs

i have a 79 camaro with headers and then a 2 in 2 out flowmaster muffler. the pipe size is 2.5'. would it be to loud for the "sound police" if i ran 2 glass packs dumped before the axle? or should i go with cut outs so i can quiet it down every once in a while.

i would not recommend glasspacks. they are loud, but they actually restict flow over some mufflers. i highly recommend dynomax bullets if you run teh exhaust all the way to the rear, but if you go before the rear tire, i would get moroso spiral flows. i currently have moroso spiral flows in a cammed motor, and they sound awsome. i did at one point have dynomaxed bullets, and although they were louder, they also sounded awsome, real dragster like. moroso spiral flwos and dynomax bullets have absolutely no restiction what so ever unless you have a blown big block, and even then theres limits.

If you dump the exhaust before the rear tires, does the heat coming from the exhaust tend to put wear on your tires? I have been trying to figure out how to design my exhaust so I can put slicks on. I thought about putting them before the axle or stopping underneath the car, instead or running all the way to the back. What do you think?
