Default full exhaust set up for lt1

Ok so i have 95 z28 6 spd. it has a flowmaster cat back and a K&N CAI. I live in california and i can pass smog. my question is would i be able to get shorty or mid length headers and a ORY and still pass smog because i have heard that i can't get LT headers? or would i have to get a high performance cat? im not too familiar with exhaust systems but is a high performance cat and a ORY in the same place? (as far as function). also what else is their to an exhaust? i hear people talking of midpipes and im not quite sure what they are talking about. thanks for all the help i really appreciate it. im sure i sound like a real car noob.

in calf u will need dot aproved cats so u will need to check and make sure they are approved in calf and have the proper carb number. and i believe u are right lt headers are not legal in your state. get the mid length headers they have a little better flow than the shorties.

The mid-pipe is the section of tubing between the cat and the rear muffler that usually have a perpendicular connecting pipe or the pipes temporarily merge. This is to equalize the pressure in both exhaust pipes and keep the engine back-pressure as low as possible since back-pressure kills your high-end power.

^^^ also called xpipe. and the ory pipe is a off road y pipe that does take the place of the stock y pipe and cats and is not legal in calf on the highway.
