The only thing i have ever heard of is if you run open like that, on a cold day you can damage the engine components due to hot exhaust air hitting cold air and sucking it back up. Or something like that....a old man told me that one day. Dunno if its true or not, but hey...always listen to a old man. Nine times out of ten they may know what there talkin about!
