Default Exhaust upgrade

I just got a 1991 Z28 and would like to upgrade the exhaust. I would like to know what needs to be done to make it dual exhaust or at least "y" it off before the cat. I'd like to remove the cat, but it appears to have sensors attached to it. How do I remove the cat without messing up the computer system? Any help would be great! THanks

The cat does have sensors on it, but they really don't do much. Before my upgrade from a 305 to a 350, I ran a crowbar through my cat to clean it out. I didn;t have the money for a full system, but wanted a lil more out of my 305. IT ran like a champ. IF you have them oney, go from the manifold all the way back. You can upgrade the exhaust by your self fairly simply with a few bolts. Just have to buy the parts.

Thanks
It looks like a sensor runs from the cat along the pipe and up into the engine bay. If I remove the cat, I'm not sure of what to do with that sensor...I looked at a manual and it doesn't look like something I want to rip out...I'm not sure of what to do with it. I really don't like how these camaro exhausts are set up!! They should just be set up as true duals with pipes coming off each manifold and back....Any other suggestions!?!?

I am not sure exactly what yours looks like, but mine isn't hurting anything without having it. It is up to you. You can try it with the sensor disconnected. See if it runs good. got a pic?

I guess the question I should ask is how doI remove the cat without a light coming on or the making the car run differently
