Default Exhaust for my 78

while driving down the road with the windows open in 30 something degree weather, it occurred to me that i should really fix my exhaust so i can close them without passing out. my exhaust has gotten so bad that the other day i saw something fly from under my car and my car just gets louder, now i like loud but the fumes are killing me (litterally) i found this online ( http://www.bestinauto.com/Magnaflow-...Rear-Exit.aspx ) and was wondering if its a good deal? can anyone offer anything better? price is slightly a factor, i want a low tone growl that can turn into a roar, and give me a power boost would be nice too, i was saving up for a suspension but this has bumped it out of the way, i have maybe a $500 limit, perhaps slightly more depending if i can get my dad to help, thank you everyone

That's a catback system, does your car have a cat on it?
Do you have to take a 30+ year old car through emissions?
I'd just buy a set of headers and have a local muffler shop do a dual exhaust system.
If you install the headers yourself and drive to the muffler shop you should be able to do the whole thing for less than that catback.

it does have cats, but idk if NJ does require a 32 yr old car to go through emissions, it has 2 cats i believe, now when i was under that car doing my clutch, it didnt look like a whole lot of room for a duel set up, and i do want to change the headers bc they are rusty as hell, what would be better for me? long tube or short tube headers? i am not looking to go really fast, im just looking to get to like 0-80 fast, i dont really care about 80+ bc its my daily driver, so i guess i would be looking for more torque over hp and what not? sorry im not that great on this stuff lol

well i have long tube headers and would go with long tube if you can get enough clearance with them. They usually provide more low end torque than shorty's

Im so happy that i live in WA since i dont need to go through emissions because my car is older than 25 years old so i dont have cats or any emissions equipment on my engine. I also have long tube headers and a true dual exhaust with flowmasters and i love the sound love that aggressive rumble

well i dont really have to go the emissions either bc my uncle has a car dealership with plenty of inspection stickers lol, but if i have to go into state inspection i'll just bolt on cats at the end of the tail pipes lol think it'll work?

check to see if you need to go through inspection or anything. lol i dont know it might work

But if not then i'd take everything emissions off your car and free up some hp

I'm in rural Washington so I don't have to go through emissions at all.
Infact in my 38 years of driving I've never been through it.
