Is it worth it to buy the brand name cold air intake or should I just get a cheap one off ebay then a brand name filter? I have a 97 3.8L V6

summitt carries all three i think jegs carries a brand of there own, the k&n and the moroso. there are a bunch of places that carry the two main brands but dont know of any that are cheaper if u include shipping. if u find a place let us know. easy to put in, well not to hard. lol. check out the installation directions on summit.

Hmm, I checked out summit and jegs and google, and maybe I just fail at searching, but I could only find the SLP and the ebay ones for the 3.8L V6

Just make sure the "cold air intake" really is a cold air intake.
Some of those cheapo ones on fleabay are nothing more than an elbow and cone filter. Since the filter on those is in the engine compartment, it's actually a hot air intake, which defeats the whole purpose of replacing the stock one.

Hmm, I have a '97, would it be completely worthless? I know it wouldn't give me much of a boost regardless.

I just bought the cheapy ebay one. It sitting on my work bench. So far I am not impressed or disappointed. It is what it is and seems to be as advertized. I picked it up for $45. Hopfully I will get far enough along with my project that I will be installing it this weekend. I will most likely be doing some upgrades to the mounting system as time permits.

if you want a k&n go to rksport.com. otherwise all you'll find is slp or ebay. i was told the only reason the ebay ones are so cheap is they don't have a CARB number.
