Best Exhaust (Sound and Performance)?

RE: Best Exhaust (Sound and Performance)?
If you mind me asking, what exactly is the key to getting more performance out of upgrading an exhaust. I know its something about more air-flow but I'm not to sure I understand it completly.

RE: Best Exhaust (Sound and Performance)?
Well. The entire exhaust system on a stock Camaro is fairly good. If you plan on making a V6 really badass then I would upgrade to 2.5 in diameter tubing. Anything after that is overkill for a V6 unless you're going to run twin turbos. The main purpose of wider tubing in an exhaust system as is you guessed it, better flow. Wider pipes will also bring a deeper tone to your car's sound. Look for a system with high flow cats, and so some research on mufflers. Headers on a V6 will make it sound like **** from what I'm told but will help in performance. Since I dont plan on making my V6 a monster, I just took the muffler off my system, ran some stainless steel tubing , bent it out 90 degrees, and added a nice tip. The stock cat on Camaros are highflow anyway. Heres a video of my cars exhaust system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mWROpGKMoI....theres a better quality video on my myspace. www.myspace.com/v1cinity
