Default back firing !!!! huge flames!!!

its a carb'd lt1 thats had a little tweaking done but anyways

its a edlebrock carb 600cfm part num1406 and its running rich i believe from what the plugs look like

it backfires on deacceleration only and it will have some flames once in awhile but is really loud and sounds like a shotgun going off i have tried multiple ways on how set the carb i believe timing is set correct

but any help would be apprecated i just turned 18 and ive been working on this project sense beging of 2010 and has given me nothing but troubles cuz of bad parts etc and im running out of patence but im not giving up on it yet just want it to runn better so i can drive it more with out scaring my self and others plus i have senior pic with it next week

"i believe timing is set correct"
What brings you to that belief, is it a good "feeling" you have, or did you actually check with a timing light to know for certain?
Sounds like either ignition timing or valve timing to me. Flames out of the exhaust or carb?

K, more info needed. What vintage LT1 is it, old (1970-72), or 1992 and newer? What kind of car is it in? And try to be specific about things like what kind of fuel delivery, etc.
